One-Page Timeline of the Reformation

Sometimes history can feel overwhelming, with dates, events, and names blurring together. That’s why I created a single-page timeline that lays out the major milestones of the Reformation in a clear and simple format. It’s easy to print and hang on a wall, slide into a binder, or use as a quick reference during lessons. This timeline helps learners see the big picture at a glance, so they can understand not only Martin Luther’s role but also the broader movement God used to bring people back to His Word.

This one-page guide is especially helpful for homeschoolers and Sunday school teachers, since it makes a big topic approachable and provides an easy springboard for deeper study.

Coloring Page – Luther’s Rose

The second item in the pack is a coloring page of Luther’s seal (also called Luther’s rose), presented in a woodcut-style design. This symbol, first used by Martin Luther himself, is a meaningful picture of the gospel:

  • The black cross reminds us of Christ’s sacrifice.
  • The heart shows faith in Him.
  • The white rose expresses joy, comfort, and peace.
  • The blue background symbolizes heaven.
  • The golden ring reflects eternal life.

By giving children (and adults!) a chance to color this design, you turn the symbol into a hands-on teaching tool. While coloring, you can explain the meaning behind each part of the cross and how it ties back to Scripture. It’s a quiet activity that still sparks rich conversations about faith.

Copywork Pages – Romans 1:17

Copywork is a wonderful way to reinforce both Scripture memory and handwriting practice. In this pack, I’ve included two versions of copywork sheets featuring Romans 1:17: “The just shall live by faith.”

This verse was central to Martin Luther’s discovery of the truth that salvation is by faith alone, not by works. Writing it out helps learners dwell on the words and take them to heart.

To give you flexibility, I’ve provided:

  • A page with the verse in ESV (English Standard Version).
  • A page with the verse in both NKJV and KJV (New King James Version and King James Version, which use the same wording for this verse).

This way, you can choose the translation your family or group prefers, while still emphasizing the same powerful truth.

The copywork sheets are lined and easy to print, so children can write directly on them. You can also reuse the pages as often as needed to reinforce Scripture memorization over time.

Why The Reformation Activity Pack Matters

Each resource in the Reformation Activity Pack is meant to be both fun and purposeful. Instead of just reading about the Reformation, children and families can interact with the story: seeing it laid out in history, coloring symbols that carry deep meaning, and writing out Scripture that fueled one of the most important movements in church history.

And the best part? You don’t need a lot of prep time or supplies. Just print and go.
